Within «D2.2: Design and implementation of permanent Accelerographic and GNSS network» action of INDES-MUSA research program, a set of two 24bit accelerometric stations were installed on 13th of March 2014 at the Cultural Centre of Kalochori. The exact locations of the stations shown in Figure 1 meet the research needs of seismic motion monitoring and study of soil-structure interaction within the residential zone of Kalochori.
The first accelerometric station (KLH3) was installed at the roof slab of the structure (Figure 2). In this manner a double installation criterion is satisfied: (a) Installation next to a GNSS base reference station that had been installed on October 2013 as part of the INDES-MUSA monitoring network, thus achieving a collocated accelerometric - GNSS station and (b) Installation at a representative structure of the residential zone of Kalochori.
The second accelerometric station (KLH4) was installed in a warehouse close to the Cultural Centre of Kalochori (Figure 3). Due to the small dimensions of the above structure minor effect of soil-structure interaction on seismic recordings is anticipated, representing therefore an urban free-field installation within the particular zone of interest.
Both stations were configured for continuous recording and real-time data transfer through an ADSL internet connection at the central INDES-MUSA server of EPPO-ITSAK premises in Thessaloniki.
The above installations complete the INDES-MUSA accelerographic network within the building environment of the broader Kalochori area for each examined sub-zone of investigation (i.e. industrial zone, residential zone, oil tanks zone) prescribed by the project (Figure 4).
The last accelerometic station will be installed in the near future at a reference free-field site away from the building environment.
