Installation of a free-field accelerometric station at the Cereal Institute – Hellenic Agricultural Organization “Demeter”

INDES-MUSA accelerometric network: Installation of a free-field accelerometric station at the Cereal Institute – Hellenic Agricultural Organization “Demeter” (premises of Kalochori)

Within «D2.2: Design and implementation of permanent Aceelerographic and GNSS network» action of INDES-MUSA research program, a 24bit accelerometric station was installed on 15th of September 2014 at the Cereal Institute – Hellenic Agricultural Organization “Demeter” (premises of Kalochori) (Figure 1). The exact locations of the stations shown in Figure 1 meet the research needs of seismic motion monitoring in freefield conditions.
KLH7 station was installed on the ground surface at the opposite side of Kalochori bay representing a free-field reference station away from the build environment. A small R/C slab of 70x70cm plan dimensions and 20cm thickness was constructed at the place of the installation to mount KLH7 station. The R/C slab was founded on four micropiles to achieve sufficient bonding to the surrounded soil (Figure 2). KLH7 accelerometric station was mounted on the R/C slab (Figure 3) representing the free-field installation of the INDES - MUSA project. The exact location of KLH7 station (40.6178οΝ, 22.8322οΕ) was selected to comply with the criterion of sufficient distance from the building environment. The station was configured on a continuous recording stream allowing real-time transfer data to the central data acquisition server of the project at premises of EPPO-ITSAK in Thessaloniki.

Installation of a tide gauge in the commercial port of Thessaloniki

Within «D2.2: Design and implementation of permanent Aceelerographic and GNSS network» action of INDES-MUSA research program, an automatic measuring station of the sea tide ( tide gauge) was installed on 11/02/2014 in order to meet the needs of the research project, monitor the ground motion and study the soil-structure interaction in the settlement zone of the study area .

The tide gauge consists of the sea level measuring sensor (OTT RLS), the logging unit (OTT Duosens), the telemetric equipment and the supply system . The tide gauge was installed on the southeast side of the commercial port of Thessaloniki.
